I’m a stone carver and sculptor often working in reclaimed limestone, sandstone and slate. Every block has its own quirks and flaws, and I treat the design as a starting point rather than a fixed plan. Once chisel meets stone, I respond to its inclusions and textures, letting them guide me to reveal its true character.
My work is inspired by early 20th century art, modernism and medieval grotesques, resulting in original sculptures that are often semi-abstract. Each piece is designed to be weather-friendly, suitable for display indoors or out, and made with longevity in mind. Natural weathering enhances the surface over time, so I always think about the lifespan of a work before making the first cut.
Alongside my own sculpture, I run stone carving courses at my Tenterfields workshop. These classes give students the chance to learn traditional techniques in a hands-on way and to take home a piece they’ve carved themselves.
I also take commissions, working closely with clients to create bespoke carvings. Whether it’s a garden feature, decorative element or a personal piece, each work is tailored to its setting and designed to endure.
