Producer/Director
James Mellor has over 30 years of experience in film and TV, working on productions such as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Last of The Summer Wine, Doctors, and Wheeler Dealers. Starting as a Runner, he advanced to Assistant Director before becoming a Producer and Director.
In 2010, he founded Rainbow Trout Films, delivering award-winning corporate films, promos, commercials, and documentaries. Based in Halifax, UK, he collaborates with clients globally.
James has worked with Sky, including Sky One special projects and Sky Creative, producing promos and commercials such as WWF & Sky’s Adopt A Jaguar. He also directed and produced The Inflight Food Trip, which launched on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
Now operating from Albion Street Studios, Dean Clough Mills, Rainbow Trout Films’ recent projects include TikTok commercials, working with charities, Focus4Hope and EdShift, and the award-winning documentary Rugby Town.
James lives in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, and studied Media Technology at Thames Valley University.
