CalderdaleCreates Network Membership Terms and Conditions (August 2026)

  1. The network, CalderdaleCreates, exists to connect professionals working across Calderdale in the cultural and creative industries to build skills, share opportunities and strengthen our collective voice.
  1. To be eligible for membership of CalderdaleCreates you must be working in a creative and/or cultural industry role in Calderdale – as an employee, freelance worker or by running your own creative business. Your qualifying role need not be your only role. Membership is currently free of charge.
  1. CalderdaleCreates is operated by Calderdale Creates Limited, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, set up in 2026 specifically to operate and develop the network for the benefit of network members.
  2. CalderdaleCreates is a network designed and governed by and for its members. The directors of the company that operates the network are all creative / cultural industry professionals, and (with the exception of four initial directors who were originally elected on to the CalderdaleCreates steering group prior to company incorporation and then volunteered to be the company’s initial directors,) directors are democratically elected by their fellow network members. Directors are unpaid volunteers, and work together to make decisions about how the network is run.
  3. Membership of CalderdaleCreates entitles each network member to: (a) create and edit their own directory webpage on the CalderdaleCreates website; (b) attend online and in person events, networking sessions, meetings, workshops and training sessions; (c) receive e-newsletters on useful and relevant funding, jobs, opportunities, and commissions; (d) help shape CalderdaleCreates’ programme, priorities, and grow membership opportunities; (e) access, view and download the Member Resources on the CalderdaleCreates website; (f) stand as a director and / or vote in director elections; (g) attend the Annual General Meeting of the company.
  4. CalderdaleCreates network member application is via the form on the CalderdaleCreates website. The information collected on that form populates the member’s directory webpage, allowing other network members to see and connect with other members. A member’s directory page is public facing on CalderdaleCreates website, so members should consider the information they provide when applying to join the network carefully. Once a member’s directory page has been accepted for publication the member will be able to create a password which will allow them to edit their directory page and access the learning resources for members in the Member Area.
  5. Contact with network members is all digital, initially via the online membership submission form and then via the website, newsletters and emails, and occasionally, and only when necessary, via phone call or phone message. To ensure you receive communications from the network please add the address hello@calderdalecreates.co.uk to your email contacts.
  1. Eligibility to join CalderdaleCreates will be assessed from information on each member’s application form, including their location and the nature of their work, and their confirmation of acceptance of these terms and conditions on the application form. The directors, acting in their discretion, may choose to offer or decline membership where member eligibility is not clear cut.
  2. Network members agree to the following when joining CalderdaleCreates network: (a) “I understand that the directors of CalderdaleCreates are all volunteers, and as such not all enquiries and queries will be able to be dealt with immediately. (b) It is my responsibility to let CalderdaleCreates know if I won’t be attending an event I have booked a ticket for, so that my place might be offered to those on the waiting list and any catering provided is appropriate to the numbers attending. (c) It is my responsibility to review and keep up to date the information on my directory page. (d) I understand that resources created for network members are not to be shared with non-members, and are not to be taken as constituting legal advice. (e) I will make every effort to vote in the CalderdaleCreates director election process. (f) I will promptly complete a feedback form provided after each network run event, if requested.”
  1. Any concerns, grievances, or disputes should be raised in writing with the CalderdaleCreates board of directors, by emailing hello@calderdalecreates.co.uk. The directors will respond in a timely and fair manner, and the board’s decisions shall be final.
  1. Any membership fees levied in the future and all event participation fees charged are non-refundable (unless otherwise stated at the time of charge), except at the discretion of the CalderdaleCreates board of directors.
  1. CalderdaleCreates will handle all personal information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Your contact details will only be used for event organisation and promotion, and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent. Please see the Privacy Notice on our website.
  2. Members of CalderdaleCreates are expected to behave respectfully and in the spirit of collaboration and support for the network and other network members. The board of directors reserves the right to withhold / cancel membership from an individual / organisation if conduct is deemed to be or could become damaging to CalderdaleCreates or other network members.
  3. Failure to comply with any of these terms and conditions may result in a member not being allowed to continue with their membership and participate in CalderdaleCreates activities and events in the future.
