About me:
I’m a lived experience storyteller, multidisciplinary artist and cultural reparationist. My work moves at the intersections of identity, place and power and is rooted in deep listening, relational practice and collective imagination. I’m passionate about the power of culture and creativity to challenge, transform, repair and heal especially for communities historically excluded from decision-making.
About my journey with CalderdaleCreates:
I joined the CalderdaleCreates Steering Group to help shape a more inclusive, responsive and representative cultural sector. I bring insights from my work with the Global Majority Collective, as well as my ongoing practice as a community organiser and cultural practitioner and reparationist. I feed into and out of spaces that centre lived experience, grassroots organising, and cross-sector collaboration, particularly around equity, heritage and local-global cultural exchange.
For me, CalderdaleCreates is a platform to champion new voices and redistribute access to resources, visibility and influence. I believe in culture not just as output, but as a process, a tool for place-making, repair, healing and systems change. My ambition is for Calderdale’s creative sector to lead with care, courage and imagination and for our communities to see themselves reflected not only in the work but in the structures behind it.
