About me:
I’m a multi award-winning environmental campaigner and greentrepreneur, poet, and speaker with a passion for low-carbon living, creative communication, and equity in all its forms. Over the past two-three decades, I’ve supported environmental and cultural projects through voluntary roles, music, and community engagement – and I’ve served as a local councillor, so I’m no stranger to bureaucratic tangles or making things happen under pressure. I play the horn, write cheeky eco-poetry with bite, and love finding unexpected ways to connect, challenge, and educate through humour.
About my journey with CalderdaleCreates:
I’ve been involved with CalderdaleCreates since its early days – attending events and then joining the steering group in 2023. I contributed to the Programming working group and now sit on the Governance group. I bring insight from local politics, education, business and campaigning, and placemaking – as well as years spent in a voluntary capacity navigating local and national boards, partnerships, and policy forums. I want CalderdaleCreates to be a beacon for accessible, inclusive, and sustainable practice – nurturing new voices, celebrating community creativity, and helping the arts sector thrive without burning out people or the planet. I believe strongly in the power of culture to shape place, shift mindsets, and build resilience – and I’m here to keep those ambitions practical, playful, and rooted in the needs of our communities.
