About me:
I ama theatre director and the Artistic Director/Joint CEO of Northern Broadsides, a national touring company based in Halifax. Previous roles include Artistic Director/CEO of the National Theatre of Scotland, Artistic Director of Royal&Derngate, Northampton and Associate Director of Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. I have directed classic drama, new writing and musical theatre across the country, including The James Plays at the National Theatre and international festivals in Toronto, Adelaide and Auckland. I have chaired the Musical Theatre Network and currently sit on the SOLT/UK Theatre Programming Team.
About my journey with CalderdaleCreates:
I have been Chair of CalderdaleCreates since 2023 and am passionate about making the arts accessible to as many people as possible and making the creative sector representative of our communities and nation. I believe collaboration is the key to developing a thriving creative sector, and that Calderdale is a unique place to develop your practice. In challenging times we can make the sector more robust and more diverse by working together, putting artists at the heart of civic life and making Calderdale the best place to live a creative life.
